A bit about the weaver

I have lived all over Vermont for the last 25 years. I took a weekend weaving class on a whim in 2015 and have been hooked ever since. Now I have 5 different looms which I use for different projects. It is all about color for me. I love to see how the different color combinations and patterns mesh together. In the last few years I have started to experiment with dye. I like to lay out a warp(the body of the scarf) on the floor and paint the individual strands of yarn. Warps are usually 100-250 strands of yarn that are around 3 yards long. Sometimes I will also paint the yarn for the weft (the horizontal strands of the scarf) for a specific project. I never make the exact same scarf twice. I start out with an idea in my head and then let it change and evolve as I go. There is always a new idea to try. I use mostly bamboo and viscose chenille because they are my personal favorites. I love the softness, durability and vivid colors. I recently took a weekend class on tapestry. I am enjoying experimenting with this craft as well. All of my drift wood is from Lake Champlain. Every tapestry is unique and all about colors and textures. I use many different yarns, objects and textures. I love Vermont and feel incredibly grateful to live here and do what I do.
